The Argus report (January 7) about Sussex being the home of three of Britain's richest men - worth £3.5 billion, £1.1 billion and £185 million respectively - was followed by a story about the Rockinghorse Appeal hoping to raise £18,000 to purchase an urgently needed ventilator to help critically ill children at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

I wonder how long it will take to raise £18,000, how many children would have benefited during that period and how may £18,000s there are in £4.785 billion?

It's a strange old world, isn't it?
