C Graham (Letters, January 7) has not thought through what a fair voting system is.
What is so unfair about the party receiving the most votes being declared the winner?
After all, in every contest I can think of, the winner takes all. Under proportional representation, extremists will gain positions of power.
However, Mr Graham is right to point out that the Conservative Party is the only alternative to Labour for independent-minded voters.
Just take a look around Brighton and Hove - quite frankly, it is not a pretty sight.
Under the Conservatives, this city was a clean seaside resort to be proud of.
Businesses have turned away in their droves, causing misery and insecurity for the people who worked there.
One of the reasons is an incompetent Labour council run by incompetent Labour councillors.
From parking to planning applications you just get chaos and delay and end up losing money under Labour.
It is not the voting system that needs replacing, just the Labour councillors to be replaced by Conservatives.
