In response to the article on the views of comedy writer Vince Powell, I believe he has a valid point when he says the comedy shows of today are lacking in the ingredients that made programmes such as Dad's Army and The Good Life so popular.
My two children, who are only ten and six, love to watch the repeats of these comedies, as do my wife and I, but find they are not the least bit interested in the current crop which try to get cheap laughs by using crude methods.
Only Fools And Horses is probably the only British comedy that comes close to matching the golden-era style and, while overseas imports such as Friends and Frazier are excellent, let's have some of the same from our own home-grown talents, be they young or old.
