Two people were seriously injured today when their car crashed into a telegraph pole by a busy West Sussex road.
They were freed by firefighters and taken to Worthing Hospital. Their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
The Worthing-London A24 at Findon was blocked for most of the rush hour this morning after the 5.30am accident.
The road between the Findon roundabout and Worthing Crematorium was closed in both directions.
A police spokesman said: "We received a call from the ambulance service and when we arrived at 5.48am both people in the car had been released.
"But there was also concern about the telegraph pole, which was in a dangerous state."
Diversions were set up around the scene and the road finally reopened at 8.30am.
