Guy Souch has turned his back on goalkeeping and become a ruthlessly efficient goal machine.

Souch, 13, turns out for Rustington Park Youth in the Arun and Chichester U-14 C League and the young ace has amassed 22 goals in ten games since swapping the No.1 jersey for the No. 10 shirt last month.

The Littlehampton-based youngster announced his arrival on the outfield in dramatic fashion with NINE goals in his team's 11-4 demolition of Rustington Otters.

Now the pacey frontman cannot stop scoring and he is loving his new role.

Guy said: "I have played in goal for a couple of years but I wanted to see if I could do the same as the other players in front of me. I love scoring goals and it gives me a buzz you can't compare to playing in goal."

Guy, who turns 14 later this month on the 24th, attends Littlehampton Community School and the Liverpool fan cites Michael Owen as his favourite player and role model.

"I just like his skill," said Guy. "He is an excellent goalscorer and I really like him. I've watched Brighton a couple of times but I'm not really a fan."

Although Guy admires Owen, the youngster revealed the inspiration behind his goal celebration owes more to former England international Alan Shearer than Sven Goran Eriksson's first choice striker.

"I like to do what Shearer does," said Guy. "I raise my right hand in the air and just run away from the goal."

The Rustington Park Youth manager Adrian Woodroffe is delighted with Guy's contribution since joining the attack and his young charges are up to third in the table.

Woodroffe said: "Guy is very quick and is so cool when he gets to the goal. He knows what the goalkeeper is going to do.

"He has scored a lot of goals and he is good at passing too.

"When he gives a good pass he keeps on running and doesn't stop to admire it like some of the other lads.

"Guy has proved to be an excellent striker but I swap all the players round. I don't keep them all in the same position.

"I believe it is beneficial if they all have a go in every position.

"There's no reason for them to commit themselves to one position at such a young age.

"Gary Pavey has gone in goal and he is doing well. My son Adam captains the side and there are some good players in the line-up like Graham Makey."

Well done to Guy and good luck to the team for the rest of the season.
