I was very amused to read about Jane White knocking on the Jehovah's Witnesses' door in protest at their continual visits to her home (The Argus, January 16). I have the opposite problem - I would love them to visit me but they avoid my house like the plague.
I have been interested in groups such as the Jehovah's Witnesses for the past 20 years and have noticed how they keep changing their beliefs. Originally, they said the world would end in 1914, then they said it would be 1925. Again, nothing happened, so they hinted that the Second World War might end in Armageddon (I am reliably informed it did not).
The next date was 1975 and some Jehovah's Witnesses were so convinced they sold their homes and gave up their jobs to wait for the end. Needless to say, they were disappointed. Two years ago they changed their minds again and said they would stop setting dates - I wonder why?
I love discussing all this with Jehovah's Witnesses but they don't seem to enjoy it as much as I do. Why don't they leave Ms White alone and come to visit me?
If any readers would like more information on the Jehovah's Witnesses and groups like them, they can contact me.
