A group of tortoises were engulfed in flames after a fire broke out at a breeder's premises.
The blaze swept round the cage in which seven of the animals were kept.
Firefighters came to their rescue after flames were spotted on the top floor of the two-storey building in St Helen's Down, Hastings, at 4pm yesterday.
The building was badly damaged by fire and an investigation has been launched.
