Cadmus Group, the Sussex-based equity funding and company sales specialist, is expanding to include an additional professional service.

The Executive File is a project designed to identify and recruit both full time and non-executive directors for client companies across the UK.

Based at Cadmus Group's head office in Sayers Common, it will operate alongside existing activities, introducing a fresh and pro-active approach to top-level recruitment.

Piloted in the past year, the scheme has already placed six directors with companies in a range of sectors, including an Ofex-listed remote vision technology group, a £50 million turnover bureau de change and a marketing services company.

Full-time managing director posts have been offered to two candidates on the 200-strong register of directors. No fee or commission is charged to individuals placed through the scheme.

Cadmus managing director Howard Matthews said: "We are only interested in high-calibre people who have already served as company directors."

He said the scheme broke new ground by matching a candidate's personality, as well as professional qualifications, with the culture of the client company.

"It's a matter of looking at what candidates have achieved and the quality of their background before meeting them to see how they would fit in. In the main, they have to be rounded characters rather than boffins. Most of the appointments require people with broad rather than specific knowledge but they must have had experience of managing a business."
