Seaford and Pulborough have reached the Sussex Intermediate Shield final and also qualified for the senior knockout.

The Sussex Two title-chasers both knocked out higher division opponents in Saturday's semis.

Pulborough trailed visitors Rye 22-12 at the break but fought back to win 30-22 with skipper Will Lawes scoring three tries.

Ed Rydon and Phil Jennings also crossed and Jon Page added a conversion and a penalty.

Seaford rated their 21-12 home win over Horsham as their best result in a decade.

They took first use of a brisk wind at The Salts and piled up a 21-0 lead.

Lee Pryor powered through from fullback for a try and Andy Gunstone won a kick and chase. Andy Booth kicked a conversion and three penalties.

Jamie Bartle and Tim Wills struck within 15 minutes of the re-start and Andy Stone landed a conversion to pull the deficit back to nine points but that was as close as Horsham got.

Their skipper Guy Hannell admitted: "Seaford deserved it. Our tackling was committed but they seemed to want the 50/50 balls more than we did."

The final will be staged at St Francis on Sunday, February 10. In the senior event, Pulborough will go to Uckfield and Seaford visit Lewes for first round ties.

Lewes scored 21 unanswered second-half points to beat Bognor 28-26 in an error strewn friendly.

Stuart Pearce scored two tries and Tom Spurle added a superb solo effort as Bognor took a 26-7 half-time lead.

Phil Eedes kept Lewes in the contest with a 60-yard finish which Dave Tyrrell converted.

Ross Armour's score, a penalty try and a late strike from Paul Livesey, all converted by Dave Tyrrell, won it for Lewes.

Bognor skipper Karl Flynn was not too worried. He said: "It was a very worthwhile exercise for us and gave us a chance to look at a few different players."

Winger Mark Adams scored three tries in Worthing's 25-5 win away to a useful Petersfield side. Jamie Newhouse also got over with Tony Cruz adding a penalty and a conversion.

Hove were delighted with their 16-12 win over Crawley, which was clinched by a John Challon try and a conversion, two penalties and a drop goal from Martin Lovell.

Kelvin Cartwright and Tony Parsons scored tries for Crawley, the second converted by John Doyle.

Lee Evans scored four tries as Uckfield beat East Grinstead II 46-8.
