OH, dear. A handful of nobodies hiding behind the title of Society of Sussex Downsmen is going to oppose the stadium so much needed by Brighton and Hove at Falmer (The Argus, January 29).
It is pitiful to think these people complain they may be able to see the stadium from their walking route.
Most people know those who meet and stroll on the Downs are mainly people who have no interests outside work and stroll to find company. Their numbers are small and nobody should be concerned by the complaints they make. If the sight of a modern stadium is so upsetting, why haven't they complained about the sprawling university? The stadium will hardly show alongside.
Most conservation groups consist of only about six people and only one of those does anything. The others just hang on and think it is important. If society took notice of these boring loners, there would be no Palace Pier, no Marina, no hotels blocking the seafront and the village of Falmer would not be blocking the route to Lewes.
