Passing over K Taylor's diatribe against conservationists (Letters, February 4), I must confess to being a little puzzled by his final paragraph complaining they are responsible for Falmer blocking the route to Lewes.
The Domesday Book entry of 1085 records 35 villagers already in residence there.
Presumably, this meddlesome body must have a very long history.
