I was amazed to read Will Newman was perturbed (Letters, February 6) to see Gordon Dean's name missing from the two-page spread on Max Miller.
Mr Dean was not mentioned because the article was about Max Miller.
I am aware of Mr Dean's knowledge of Max and other famous people.
I am one of the founder members of the Max Miller Appreciation Society and we did contact Gordon and many other people who knew Max.
We had people contact us who only met Max once and spoke of their memories and others who never even met him but saw him on stage.
They spoke about him with great affection and are still talking about him.
Max was a person who loved and had time for his fans, not just individuals.
If anybody wishes to contribute towards the statue fund, please send gifts to Max Miller Appreciation Society, c/o Vic Chapman, 248 Dyke Road, Brighton BN1 5AE.
