Student Claire Morgan is travelling more than 100 miles every day to feed her parents' pet cat.
Claire, 22 of Queens Park Road, Brighton, is feeding Lucy the moggy while her parents take a month-long camping holiday in Spain.
Claire, a student at Brighton University, makes the daily trip to Havant, Hampshire, where her parents live.
She said: "Everyone thinks I'm mad for driving all that way just to feed a cat.
"My parents didn't have a neighbour who could do it so they asked me if I could help them out. They didn't want to put Lucy in a cattery because she is young and quite nervous.
"At first I didn't think it was possible to travel that kind of distance every day but when I saw her looking at me I just couldn't say no."
Claire, who lives in a flat and is not allowed to keep pets, said: "I love cats but I would only do this for Lucy.
"I really missed her when I went to university and I like seeing her so often.
"It hasn't been that bad because I stay at weekends and my parents are paying for the petrol.
"I usually leave Brighton after lectures at about 3pm. It takes just over an hour to get there and I come back after the rush hour.
"I only spend three hours in the house before it's time to come home."
But Claire is reluctant to be so generous the next time her parents go on holiday.
She said: "I know it's a strange thing to do but hopefully I will only have to do it this one time.
"In the future, I will try to find someone who lives nearby to help out. If I can't do that, I will try to persuade my parents to put Lucy in a cattery.
"Although it has not been as bad as I thought it would be, I don't think I'd want to do it all over again."
