I agree with Councillor Tehmtan Framroze when he describes Tory Councillor Brian Oxley's comments on homeless people as disgraceful (The Argus, February 6). The Conservative leader is trying to capitalise on the numbers of people in insecure accommodation while conjuring up images of those we see sleeping rough on the city streets.
a shop doorway or placed in B&B with their children because they can't afford private rents are someone's son or daughter, father or mother.
How exactly does Coun Oxley propose we determine which of these people is, as he puts it, "genuine"?
It's no wonder, with increasingly extreme and ill-conceived policies as these, councillors from his own party have been leaving like rodents from an unseaworthy vessel.
