Police investigating the murder of an East Sussex man were today searching a woodland for human remains.
They are investigating the disappearance of Jason Martin-Smith, which detectives are linking to the drive-by shooting of Jimmy Millen in Hastings last October.
Officers were today searching an area of Kelk Wood, Battle, with help from the Metropolitan Police human remains recovery dog team.
The five specially trained German shepherd dogs and their handlers have been at the site since Monday. The search is expected to last until tomorrow.
Scenes of crime officers and forensic archaeologists are also at the site.
Mr Martin-Smith, 28, formerly of Camberley, Surrey, went missing around August last year.
Before then he lived at a number of addresses in the Hastings area.
Earlier this month, police revealed they were investigating his disappearance as a new line of inquiry in the Millen case.
Mr Millen was shot as he worked on his car in Carpenter Drive, Hastings, on October 24.
