Five members of the Simon Jones Memorial Campaign appeared at Worthing Magistrates' Court.
Farah Bishnani, 26, of Lewes Road, Brighton; Crispin Dowler, 23, of Brunswick Terrace, Hove; David Harbinson, 34, of Egremont Place, Brighton; Sarah McLaughlin, 27, of Golf Drive, Brighton; and Carley North, 25, of Parham Close, Brighton are alleged to have intimidated or annoyed a person operating machinery.
The offences are alleged to have taken place during a protest at Euromin Ltd, Shoreham Docks, on December 3 last year.
All five, represented by solicitor Theresa Blades, were remanded on unconditional bail.
The case was adjourned until March 6.
Mr Jones, 24, was killed when a mechanical grab crushed his head in April 1998 on his first day of work as a casual labourer for Euromin at Shoreham harbour.
Last November, following years of campaigning, the company was fined £50,000 with £20,000 costs for two health and safety executive rule violations.
