I was appalled to learn the hundreds of dolphins washed up on the English and French coasts in the past few weeks are just the tip of the iceberg.
It appears thousands are killed by a new form of fishing in the Channel called pair fishing.
We are only just beginning to understand the importance of the Channel for dolphins and the dolphin is likely to be extinct there in the next couple of years if this practice continues.
