A West Sussex man died in the bath after consuming almost seven times the legal drink-drive limit, an inquest heard.
Charles Lancaster, 41, was found at his home in Dinsdale Gardens, Rustington, by his identical twin Paul.
The dead man, an Inland Revenue enforcement officer, was believed to have been drinking an average of half a bottle of spirits a day in the week before his body was found, an inquest at Worthing heard.
His brother, Paul Lancaster, described him as a loner who drank when depressed.
Coroner Roger Stone said a pathologist found enough alcohol in Mr Lancaster's blood to kill even a regular drinker.
He recorded a verdict of accidental death.
