The Way To The Stars certainly was an unforgettable film.

It starred Rosamund John (who went to my school and was then Nora Jones), Joyce Carey, Rene Asherson and Jean Simmons.

It was at a time when heroes had dignity, self-control and gallantry.

If these qualities came back, perhaps Kieran Fuller (Letters, February 8) would have less to complain about with regard to setting an example to the young.

Who knows? Perhaps football goalscorers would be seen bowing with dignity to the spectators instead of climbing all over each other.
