It is good to see how many supporting actors who helped make a film are fondly remembered.
Bonar Colleano appeared in many excellent British films. A Matter Of Life And Death was the Royal Film Performance film for 1946.
One of my favourites was Once A Jolly Swagman, the story of a speedway rider in which Colleano starred with Dirk Bogarde.
Australian speedway star Split Waterman did much of the riding. In those days, speedway had a high profile. We kids knew all the star riders.
Also in the car in which Bonar Colleano was killed in 1958 was his great friend and fellow US actor Michael Balfour, who was to be seen on screen occasionally for many years after the accident.
