Crawley Town missed the chance to go top of the Dr Martens League premier division after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Folkestone Invicta.
Victory would have put Reds a point clear at the summit after leaders Tamworth could only draw 2-2 at Tiverton Town.
It could have been worse for Tamworth as they fought back from two goals down, with a late equaliser securing a point.
Second placed Kettering's match at King's Lynn was postponed.
Much of the first half at the Broadfield Stadium was about Reds' new signing Younes Nabil, who proved to be their biggest threat.
After just a minute, Nabil was left in a heap after a horror challenge from Folkestone's Danny G. Chapman and that set the tone of the game.
In the 20th minute, Nabil worked his way into the box and pulled the ball back but Luke Anderson miscued his shot.
Rob Collins twice went close while Ian Payne saw a shot blocked as Reds searched for the opener.
The game sprang into life in the 36th minute as Nabil's surge into the box was crudely halted by Andy Morris. A penalty was awarded but Payne saw his spot kick well saved by the tall Dave Wietecha.
A minute before the break, the visitors took the lead with their first shot of the game as Martin Chandler scored from 20 yards.
Collins went close again in the second half before Reds levelled in the 55th minute as Jimmy Dack's shot crept through Wietecha's legs.
Ben Judge went close to a winner from long range while Dack again was denied by Wietecha as the game ended all square.
Hastings Town did just enough to clinch a 1-0 victory over Dartford in a match as dreary as the weather at the Pilot Field.
Stuart Myall's 15-yard strike in the 66th minute gave George Wakeling's team another crucial three points as they continue to push for promotion.
Dartford defended in numbers for most of the match but Hastings always looking threatening thanks to the inventiveness of Steve Yates and Duncan McArthur.
In the first half Paul Ruddy and McArthur both missed chances from long range while McArthur was denied a penalty when referee Mark John adjudged the foul to be outside the area.
Town finally found an opening midway through the second half after Landry Zahana-Oni forced Darts keeper Tony Kessell to parry the ball which fell to Myall who rifled home.
