Drivers are being asked to co-operate with a road cleaning blitz.
The spring clean, which will involve sweeping and gully emptying, will begin in Worthing on March 4 in a partnership between West Sussex County Council and Worthing Borough Council.
Drivers will be asked not to park in certain roads in the area bounded by Ham Road, Heene Road and the railway line.
No Parking signs, which will be legally enforceable by traffic wardens, will be displayed the day before and inconvenience will be limited to three to four hours.
During cleaning, resident permit holders will be able to park anywhere in the Controlled Parking Zone.
County councillor Tex Pemberton said: "The increase in rainfall in recent years has highlighted the importance of keeping drains clean. If gutters are not cleared, drains block more quickly."
