Adam Flanagan kept Hastings Town on the promotion trail with the winner in a hard-fought 1-0 eastern division home win against Burnham.
The central defender struck his ninth goal of the season on 35 minutes with a header from a cross by Duncan McArthur. The goal extended Town's winning run to three matches without conceding a goal.
Assistant manager Mark Leaney said: "It was very difficult in windy conditions but we applied ourselves well and probably deserved the three points overall. It's a sign of a good side when you can graft out 1-0 wins at this stage of the season."
Steve Yates, Stuart Myall and Landry Zahana-Oni all forced the Burnham goalkeeper into action, while John Mitchell fluffed a great chance from 12 yards for the visitors.
Town's Stuart Playford was fortunate to escape a red card when, as last man, he upended Micky Durkin and was only booked.
Eastbourne Borough moved into seventh place in the eastern division after a 1-0 win at struggling Wisbech Town.
Borough survived when the hosts' Danny Steadman hit the post after 18 minutes and then shot wide on the half-hour.
The visitors were below par in the first half but they stepped up the pressure for a deserved win.
Eastbourne had two goals disallowed in the first ten minutes of the second half but the winner came on the hour. Matt Allen exchanged the ball with hard-working David Adams who split the home defence to allow Allen to slot the ball home.
St Leonards recorded their fourth win in six games with a 2-1 victory at fellow strugglers Tonbridge Angels.
The 'six-pointer' puts them four points clear of the drop zone in 16th place.
The visitors were dealt an early blow when influential defender Dave Fisher was forced to retire after five minutes with a twisted ankle sustained during the warm-up. They fell a goal behind when Steffan Ball scored from six yards from a floated free-kick in the 14th minute.
Both teams struggled on a ploughed pitch and against vicious winds and sleet but Tonbridge dominated the first half, although Saints missed opportunties and Roy Godden hit the post from 12 yards.
Saints took Tonbridge by surprise when new signing Chris Dicker headed an equaliser five minutes after the break.
Danny Fletcher hit the winner five minutes later when he raced clear and slotted past goalkeeper Joe Radford.
