MP Nicholas Soames is offering support for a frail pensioner who cannot leave hospital because he has nowhere to go.
The Mid Sussex Tory MP was contacted by the family of Roy Robey, who has been stuck in a valuable hospital bed for almost a month.
Last week, we revealed that Mr Robey, 88, had been unable to leave Brighton General Hospital because a suitable nursing home could not be found.
His daughter, Sandy Gardner, and granddaughter, Justine Cargill, want him moved to Haywards Heath.
Before going to hospital, he lived in sheltered accommodation in Brighton but he now needs a greater level of care.
Brighton and Hove City Council has said it will support Mr Robey in Haywards Heath but only up to £395 a week.
Mrs Cargill said the cheapest place they had found in the town was £600.
Mr Soames said: "I have undertaken to provide the family with assistance and advice."
He said he hoped this would help bring about a resolution to the worrying state of affairs.
Mrs Gardner, 50, said she was still hopeful but was increasingly worried for her father's health.
She said: "I am doing this for my dad, firstly. But I didn't realise how many people are vulnerable and do not have families to help them."
