A West Sussex man today denied smuggling cocaine valued at £22 million into a UK airport.
Martin Lake, 60, of Bracken Lane, Storrington, is one of three men charged with smuggling 271kg of the drug between August and October 17 last year.
The others are Christopher Barrett-Jolley, 55, from Somerset, and Peter Carine, 49, from Hensall, North Yorkshire.
All pleaded not guilty at Basildon Crown Court and were remanded in custody. They are due to face trial on September 9.
The drugs were found in five large suitcases at Southend Airport, Essex.
