A 13-year-old East Sussex boy has died following a four-car pile-up on the A272.
Three other people, including an 11-year-old boy, were seriously injured.
The boy who died was in a Volkswagen Golf involved in a collision at Piltdown, near Uckfield, last night.
Police have not yet named the teenager, who was from the Uckfield area.
The Volkswagen's male driver was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath, with serious injuries after the smash at 8.18pm.
A man and an 11-year-old boy from the Uckfield area who were in a Subaru Impreza were taken to the same hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Police said two vehicles were involved in a head-on crash before two other cars struck one of the vehicles.
The two other vehicles involved were a Vauxhall Nova and a Vauxhall Omega.
