Chichester ended Richmond's title aspirations with an impressive 5-3 win over the third placed side in the Southern Premier.
A strong Richmond side were blown apart by some superb counter-attacking hockey and resourceful defending from Chi.
It might have been different had Chichester not kept cool when finding themselves 2-0 down with just ten minutes played. There was no sign of panic and they just waited for opportunities to arise.
They did so through their penalty corner routine. After two close calls, Peter Turner got hold of one to score. Just before half time a switch corner to Neil Pendle led to Brian Lock being felled and Clive Dunn made no mistake from the penalty flick.
After half-time Chi went from strength to strength. Within a minute, a flowing move gave Andy Savory the simplest of chances and soon afterwards the lead was extended further from a superb corner strike from Dunn.
Danny Jaeger returned to the team after a year out through injury with a great display while Dunn and Turner shone in defence.
The fifth goal was a classic counter-attack as Pendle intercepted a Richmond pass and burst forward. After a quick exchange of passes with Ian Dougal, his cross found an unmarked Savory who slotted home from a yard. Richmond scored a last minute consolation.
