Football supporters abused staff and caused damage costing hundreds of pounds before last night's South Coast derby against Bournemouth.
At least ten Brighton and Hove Albion fans were involved in drunken scenes.
Police were called as a group wearing Albion colours caused trouble in the Old Christchurch Road area of Bournemouth.
A door was smashed at The Litten Tree pub, causing damage costing £400 and fans tried to steal beer pumps from nearby O'Neils pub.
Litten Tree manager Ashley Griffiths said: "There was a group of about ten or 11 fans causing trouble.
"They were very drunk and abusive and keen on grabbing souvenirs."
An O'Neil's spokesman said two men had been thrown out for trying to steal beer pumps.
He said: "We have a zero-tolerance policy about people being drunk and in football colours.
"They started getting a bit aggressive because we wouldn't serve them."
A Dorset Police spokesman said officers were called to the area shortly before 6pm.
Tim Carder, Albion Supporters' Club chairman, said: "It's a great pity a small number of Albion followers occasionally let the rest of us down."
An Albion spokesman also condemned the incident, saying: "The club takes these things very seriously and, if found guilty, those concerned can expect to be banned from home and away games."
Two men were arrested in connection with the criminal damage to The Litten Tree.
A 40-year-old man from Tunbridge Wells, Kent, was later released without charge, police said.
A 33-year-old man from Crowborough, was charged with causing criminal damage and bailed to appear before Bournemouth magistrates on March 4.
The match at Bournemouth's Dean Court passed off peacefully with a 1-1 draw.
