Full marks to Paul Elgood, leader of the Lib-Dems on Brighton and Hove City Council, for supporting the planned community stadium at Falmer (The Argus, February 23).
His endorsement is particularly encouraging for the Albion because the Lib-Dems are clearly the greenest of the three main parties.
Councillor Elgood appears to have seen through the spurious environmental objections put forward by the Nimbys in Falmer and the Green Party.
This is not about slapping businesses and car parks on the Downs or Falmer pond.
The vision is a beautiful stadium next to a major road, railway station and two universities, with a strong emphasis on public transport.
