Brighton trainer Ronnie Davies hopes to chalk up a second world champion on Saturday night when Tony Oakey fights Russian Constantine Schevets.
The pair will do battle for the vacant WBU light-heavyweight title at York Hall, Bethnal Green.
Davies was Chris Eubank's trainer for nine years as he stormed to world titles at both middleweight and super-middleweight.
Davies said: "We have high hopes for Tony and he is looking really good.
"He has been working hard with me and if he can beat this Russian he will be the second world champion I have trained, which can't be bad."
Oakey said: "When I got the news I would be fighting I was absolutely thrilled. I know that I am the best light-heavyweight in the country and the world. I'm dedicated to my training and in tip-top condition and am confident of winning."
Oakey, from Portsmouth, trains with Davies at the Cheetahs Gym in Hove.
He tops the bill in the East End after stepping in when Takaloo's defence of his WBU junior middleweight title was scrubbed after two opponents dropped out and he then suffered a cut in sparring.
Oakey will have to relinquish his Commonwealth title if successful tonight.
The fight is being promoted by Frank Warren's Sports Network and will be broadcast on Sky and in America.
