Burgess Hill and Ringmer both recorded wins as they warmed up for tomorrow's John O'Hara League Cup semi-final.

The Hillians ended Sidlesham's recent revival with a 4-2 success at Leylands Park while Ringmer stretched their winning sequence to six with a 2-1 defeat of Redhill at The Caburn.

Teenager Tom Levitt was Burgess Hill's match-winner with a brace after coming on as a first-half substitute for the injured Ashley Carr.

Levitt opened the scoring from a corner on 34 minutes and added the third goal 20 minutes from time after being sent clear by Richard Carter.

The 19-year-old, who has now got eight goals for the season, said: "Ashley's injury was bad luck for the team but good for me.

"As a team we are very pleased because after last Saturday's FA Vase defeat it is good to come back with two wins."

Richard Carter and Steve Harper were also on target for the Hillians while Adbul Ndoye struck two late consolations for Sidlesham.

Ringmer had to come from behind after Glen Barlow fired Redhill into a fifth-minute lead. Shaun Grice levelled with a screamer and Chris Howarth netted what proved to be the winner in the 25th minute.

In the second half, Grice hit a post and Graham Martin had a shot cleared off the line but manager Glen Geard admitted it had been a close affair.

He said: "We didn't play that well but I am happy with the three points. That is our sixth league win on the spin which all bodes well. It will be a difficult game tomorrow but we are looking forward to it."

Burgess Hill and Ringmer meet at Horsham YMCA tomorrow with their hosts awaiting the winners in the final.

Southwick remain in the relegation zone after a late equaliser from Sidley's Kevin Rose restricted them to a 1-1 draw at Old Barn Way.

Tobi Hutchinson handed Wickers the lead midway through the first half and Sidley's hopes took a downturn when Jimmy Watson was sent off for an elbow on Ben Milford just before the interval.

Southwick dominated the second half but they were hit Rose's late leveller.

Wickers boss Sammy Donnelly said: "With possession and territorial play we dominated the game but we must not forget Sidley are the current league champions and the last time they played Southwick they beat us 7-1."

Wick recorded a second successive win as they beat Peacehaven 4-2 at Crabtree Park thanks to three late goals.

Dave Schneider had given Wick a 15th-minute lead but Peacehaven led 2-1 with 15 minutes remaining after Tommy Pattenden and Ian Costello had netted.

Schneider then levelled with his second of the game, Tony Stephens put Wick ahead with ten minutes remaining and youth team player Yassan Hassan wrapped up victory with his first senior goal three minutes from time.
