Dustmen tackled an emergency for a woman who ran screaming from her house.
The woman, living in the Woodingdean area of Brighton, was terrified of mice and had just found one in her front room.
Dustmen Dougie Day and Keith Blackman chased the mouse around the room until they cornered it behind her TV.
Then Mr Day caught the mouse in his hands, took it out of the house and let it go free.
Later, the woman rang Hollingdean depot to thank the two men for helping her, saying they were wonderful.
Mr Day said: "We were emptying the bins when this woman came running out in her pyjamas and asked if we would try to catch the mouse."
Mr Blackman said: "She didn't realise I was more terrified of mice than her. There was no way I could have picked up the mouse, so I left it to Dougie."
Dustcart driver Michael Cornford said the rest of the crew wondered what had happened to the two men when they disappeared. He said: "People get to know us and we have changed light bulbs for pensioners in the past but this is the first time anyone has caught a mouse."
