Mark Loram produced a match-winning last ride as Eastbourne Eagles made it three Elite League wins out of three at Peterborough last night.
The former world champion, back at the track where he endured an unhappy time last season, got the vital second place which guaranteed Eagles a 46-44 victory.
It was Peterborough's first home defeat in five matches and further evidence that Eastbourne are on track to launch a bid for the league title in 2002.
The visitors led for most part of an exciting affair, with Loram finishing with a paid 11 points and Toni Svab again heading the scorechart with paid 14 from a reserve spot.
Joe Screen won three races, and Savalas Clouting weighed in with his best return of the season with five paid six.
Clouting followed Svab home for an early 5-1 and then came from behind to beat Matej Ferjan, with Svab following him through, for another crucial 5-1 in heat 12.
The home team needed a maximum in the final heat to square the match, but Loram shot past Piotr Protasiewicz to finish in second place behind Ryan Sullivan.
Peterborough: Ryan Sullivan 14, Sam Tesar 9, Matej Ferjan 8, Piotr Protasiewicz 7, Henning Bager 4, Oliver Allen 2.
Eastbourne: Toni Svab 11, Mark Loram 10, Joe Screen 9, Savalas Clouting 5, Stefan Andersson 5, Dean Barker 3, David Norris 3.
