Bobby Zamora could be representing England next month against the likes of Brazil and Portugal.
Albion boss Peter Taylor expects his star striker to be picked for the prestigious annual tournament in Toulon.
Zamora was selected in the under 20 squad this week for a game against Portugal next Wednesday.
The dislocated shoulder which sidelines him from today's possible promotion clincher at Peterborough will put his England debut on hold unless Albion are already up.
Taylor said: "There are teams like Brazil, Argentina and France in Toulon. It's a fantastic tournament.
"I am confident he is at least going to get that. The under-20s are looking at him very seriously. He would have played last month if we had not had the Northampton game and I know he is very much in their minds.
"He wants to play for England and I am sure it will get worked out, but next Wednesday is not convenient for us.
"If for some reason we don't need anything from our last home game against Swindon next Saturday then there is a chance he could play."
Zamora also qualifies for Trinidad and Tobago, but Taylor said: "Bobby has made his mind up that he wants to play for England.
"It's a tremendous achievement as a Second Division player to be called up to the under-20 squad.
"Of course if he goes into that squad and does well he will be in the under-21 squad.
"It's nice that the FA look at all the divisions and that he has been recognised for the goals he has scored for us."
England play matches in Toulon against China, Poland, Portugal and Brazil between May 6-14, so Zamora's chances would be ruined in the unlikely event of Albion ending up in the play-off final.
Meanwhile, further contract talks between Taylor and chairman Dick Knight have been put on the backburner as Albion pursue a place in the First Division.
"We've not even discussed it," Taylor said. "There is no way I am worried about that and neither is Dick."
Taylor has not signed the three-year contract offered to him when he took charge in October, but he has described reports linking him with his old club Crystal Palace as "just paper talk."
