We certainly don't want a tram system blocking up our traffic. We are not San Francisco or Croydon. We are Brighton and Hove.
However, the city council simply must look into this monorail idea. It could be fantastic and set Brighton as a city of the future.
The monorail could offer a fast commuter service in rush hour, then slow down for the "tourist panorama" run. It should bring thousands more trippers into our lovely city.
The route should start from Brighton station and drop down through The Steine (offering views of the Pavilion), the Palace Pier and then the Marina.
If this proved successful, it could be extended along the undercliff to Rottingdean.
Sydney, Australia, has had a monorail running since 1988. It's not that expensive to install. It's silent, gives no pollution and, above all, would not clog our streets.
