Peter Taylor enjoyed a return to Kent last night and helped long-serving Dover midfielder Jimmy Strouts into the bargain.
An Albion XI beat the Conference side 3-2 in Strouts' testimonial with goals from Chris McPhee, Chris Jones and, in the last seconds, Daniel Webb.
Former Seagulls striker Scott Ramsay and a Danny Cullip own goal gave Dover a 2-1 lead at one stage.
Taylor, who saved Dover from relegation from the Conference when he was briefly in charge in the 1995-96 season, said: "It has been nice coming back here and, as far as testimonials go, I thought it was a good game to watch.
"It has been a useful exercise because I have been able to give everybody we brought down here at least 45 minutes."
The Seagulls' squad did not include Bobby Zamora, which was a disappointment for the 500-plus crowd, but they could not fault the attitude of the Albion players.
They all showed a healthy appetite for the contest and Taylor was able to take a look at trialist Ollie Rowland, from Whitehawk, who turned out at left back.
Albion's reserves play their final fixture of the season against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Thursday (2pm).
The Seagull's back-up team still have one home game outstanding against Cambridge United.
Both clubs and the Avon Insurance Combination League have agreed there is no need to play it.
