Despite all the horror stories about the NHS, you can still receive first-class care and service, courtesy of its amazingly loyal and dedicated staff.
Our mother, Mary Duckett, has received extraordinary care at the intensive therapy unit at the Princess Royal Hospital at Haywards Heath.
Any one of us could need care and assistance and, unless you were a millionaire, you could not receive from the private sector the treatment our mother has had.
During the last days of January, she was taken to A&E with an existing Lupus condition and a bad chest infection.
She waited six hours before being admitted. Within 48 hours, she had become completely paralysed by Guillain-Barre syndrome.
Unable to breathe, she went into a coma and was put on a life-support machine. Despite contracting MRSA, she is making slow but steady progress.
She is still on the life-support machine and has surprised every everyone by her fighting spirit.
All the staff are as pleased as her family at her slow but steady progress.
We cannot thank everyone enough for their professional care and the humanity they have shown in this frightful situation.
