Dave Heal continued his excellent start in Supermoto racing with a seventh place in round two of the British Championship at Three Sisters, near Wigan.
The Heathfield ace, who was British Superbikes privateer champion two years ago, had finished third out of 125 riders on his debut in the series at Cadwell Park last month.
He had surpassed expectations with that result and was expecting to be pushed down the field at Three Sisters.
Heal said: "I am really pleased with seventh place overall. I finished in front of a few top men in Supermoto racing. Dean Hemmings was second last year and I beat him in all four races.
"I am learning all the time and getting quicker and quicker. I am getting good starts but then making mistakes and getting picked off by other riders. But I am still learning and that will come."
Heal returns to action in round three at Blighton in Lincolnshire next weekend.
