DJ Fatboy Slim has backed plans for a new seafront skate park.
The star, whose real name is Norman Cook, lives with wife Zoe Ball and their young son Woody in Western Esplanade, Hove.
Residents, headed by Labour councillor Heather James, are launching an appeal for a skate park at the nearby Lagoon to give youngsters a place to enjoy one of their favourite sports.
The DJ said: "Zoe and I would love to see a skate park in the Lagoon. It will be great for Woody when he is older."
The couple offered to help with the campaign but warned: "Our DIY skills are limited."
Councillor James said: "This is really fantastic news for the appeal.
"As neighbours of the Lagoon, Norman and Zoe's support is very welcome.
"Their willingness to get involved will really boost awareness of the project and encourage even more people to get involved and raise money for a skate park."
One of the first big events for the appeal, called Skate Expectations, is a sponsored fun skate along the seafront from the Lagoon to the Peace Statue on Sunday, June 16.
A Skate Expectations Club has been formed and youngsters are being invited to the Lagoon Cafe this Saturday, between 2pm and 4pm, to find out more.
Coun James added: "The appeal is really gathering pace now and we have lots of ideas for fund-raising.
"We are keen to hear from anyone who wants to join the team and help make the skate park a reality.
"We are also looking for community-minded businesses to sponsor us and would be delighted to hear from any company who would like to support the project."
Coun James is on 01273 291142.
