The family of Stephane Aineto are pressing for a full inquiry into his death nine months ago when he was knocked down by a dustcart.
It is natural they should be deeply concerned about his tragic loss.
But an inquest has already recorded a verdict of accidental death after an exceptionally long hearing which included evidence that he had consumed a large amount of lager on the day of the accident.
The Health and Safety Executive is now carrying out an investigation. If this suggests there was any negligence by the operators of the dustcart, the family can seek redress in the courts.
If it recommends changes in working practice, the council, which is now operating the service rather than a private firm, will have to take note.
Until or unless that happens, there is no suggestion that this was anything other than an unfortunate accident.
