Danny Bloor is champing at the bit to take over the reins at Burgess Hill following the resignation of title-winning manager Gary Croydon.
Bloor, assistant for the last two years, cannot wait to get going when Croydon steps down on Tuesday after the County League division one champions finish their league programme at home to Ringmer.
The 32-year-old, who combines a love of horse racing with his passion for football, said: "I will take over straight away.
"That was always the idea when I was appointed as assistant this season, although plans don't always come to fruition.
"It's a great privilege for me and I am really looking forward to the task ahead."
He added: "We have won the league by a considerable distance and I don't expect there to be many changes, although I hope to announce an ex-pro, who is well known in Sussex, as my assistant in the next ten days.
"I also hope to make three or four new acquisitions on the playing front."
Croydon, 50, is stepping down after tiring of the expectancy which comes with managing a side which has not finished out of the top two in six seasons.
Bloor is not fazed by the prospect of taking that responsibility on his young shoulders.
He said: "I am of a different age bracket to Gary. I am young and enthusiastic and truly believe that football management is increasingly becoming a younger man's game.
"I am relishing the challenge of what I feel is the third best job in Sussex behind the Albion and Crawley.
"It is a privileged position to be in as most managers take over a side battling at the bottom of the table to avoid relegation.
"I am just pleased to be taking over one of the best jobs in the county."
Bloor is confident he will be able to hold on to the current squad.
He said: "I do not envisage any of the current team leaving after just winning the title, but you never can tell.
"All season when people have been saying 'you have won the title', I have insisted nothing is over until you are past the winning post.
"Don't take anything for granted has always been my philosophy.
"But it should be business as usual next season, just with my name at the top of the tree instead of Gary's.
"I am not a fool and I know if I don't produce results I will be history, but I am very comfortable " I will have a first class management team around me to help me do the job.
"The Burgess Hill fans are A1 in this sphere of non-League football and I can assure them that there will be no one working harder to achieve our goals and aspirations in the coming season."
