Radio presenter Terry Garoghan was celebrating today after scooping an industry "Oscar".
The former stand-up comic and presenter of Southern FM's Last Bus To Whitehawk, won the prize for best entertainment show in the Sony Radio awards, beating nationally-acclaimed names such as Jonathan Ross, Chris Moyles and Ricky Gervais.
Terry, who last year won a silver award, said he was euphoric. He said: "It was an emotionally-charged moment and I felt completely overpowered and intimidated. I hadn't even thought about an acceptance speech. Needless to say I blabbered."
Terry received the award from veteran DJ Tony Blackburn and awards host Paul Gambaccini at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last night.
He said: "I managed to describe my show as a 'kind of Tuesday night pub quiz' and mention my wife and son. Then I was so overwhelmed I had to leave the room. I rushed off and had a pee."
The comedian and presenter has made an art form out of singing about Sussex life and landmarks. He has cheekily poked fun at everything from the Seven Dials roundabout in Brighton to Burgess Hill and Worthing.
His late-night Southern FM show has been running for four years and has gathered a cult following.
Terry, 47, said he had not yet decided where to display his trophy, which he described as "plastic and positively ugly".
Judges for the awards included key figures from the industry as well as Michael Buerk, Diana Quick and Jon Snow.
In their summary of the programme, the judges said: "Funny, innovative and in tune with its audience. The broadcaster has the ability to be controversial and outrageous without being gratuitously offensive."
BBC Radio 2 was named station of the year and another Terry Wogan - won the prize for best breakfast show.
John Peel was given an honorary gold award for championing countless bands and his years of deadpan delivery.
