Following my letter of April 20 requesting tadpoles, I received several offers and was able to restock my pond.
Thank you, readers of The Argus. I read with interest M Davies' comments regarding the clumps of spawn which disintegrated (Letters, April 30). I called Froglife, a research society (tel: 01986 873733 or email froglife@froglife.org) who informed me there had been difficulties in some areas this year but couldn't be specific on the causes.
It is possible the females laid the spawn in M Davies' pond and it hadn't been fertilised due to lack of male frogs, fertilisation taking place of course externally with our froggy friends. Froglife is prepared to be helpful with any queries.
