DJ FatBoy Slim looks set to get the green light for a summer gig on Brighton beach.
Brighton and Hove City Council Cabinet culture councillor Ian Duncan will consider the show, planned for July 13, at a meeting on Thursday.
Last summer's beach party attracted 40,000 people.
The same production company, Alex Poots, would be involved this year.
Last year's Big Beach Boutique was sponsored by Channel 4, which also showed test cricket on a giant screen on the beach.
This year the DJ, alias Norman Cook, will meet estimated costs of £200,000 to £250,000 himself.
If approved, setting up for the event will start at 8am on Friday, July 12. The show will finish by 11.30pm on Saturday. Then cleaners will tidy the beach through the night.
Coun Duncan said: "Last year's show was the highlight of 2001. It was a classic night out, bringing free entertainment to thousands.
"That's what Brighton and Hove should be all about - particularly during the year when we're bidding to be European Capital of Culture in 2008."
