The Argus has published pictures showing how Gatwick Airport has changed almost out of all recognition since it was first opened 44 years ago by The Queen.
Today, Gatwick is one of the most successful and up-to-date airports in the world.
It now handles in a weekend as many passengers as visited the airport during the first seven months of its life.
Many people thought Gatwick would be a white elephant but it has been a huge success and is the biggest employer in Sussex.
Today it is the busiest single runway airport in the world and the big question is whether that expansion can continue.
The issue of a second runway may have been put on the back burner by West Sussex County Council but it certainly will not be extinguished.
