A teenage boy was robbed of £140 by two youths as he set off on a shopping trip in Seaford.
Two boys threatened to shoot the 15-year-old victim in Alfriston Road, although no gun was seen.
A police spokesman said: "The victim was understandably very upset. The money had been given to him to spend while out shopping in Brighton.
"We would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Alfriston Road area or who saw two youths matching the descriptions to contact us urgently."
He added that both the youths were in their teens and one had ginger hair with lots of freckles. The other wore a white Kickers jumper and a hat.
