Hailsham's Kym Weaver emerged triumphant at the end of a great evening of motorsport at Arlington Stadium.
Twenty-two Stock Rods provided some entertaining racing despite a soaking wet track after a day of rain on Wednesday.
Weaver's night begun badly as he was disqualified early in the first heat for sending Christian Bunoz spinning into the safety fence as the race was won by relative newcomer James Hitchen after he led all the way.
Rather ominously for the rest of racers, Andy Sturt was second from the back of the grid. He is the reigning track champion but it was generally believed that he would not be defending his title this year as he moved up to the Hot Rod class at the start of the season.
He still intends to continue in that, but has also promised a full Stock Rod season at Arlington and certainly looked as though he meant business as he arrived with a brand new Vauxhall Corsair similar to Weaver's new car.
Weaver, who was track champion in 1999, showed that he fully intends to regain the title this year by winning both heat two and the final in close finishes.
Eight cars were battling for the lead in heat two while he had to go the long way round the outside of the leaders to grab the win in the final.
Jo Smith from Tunbridge Wells, who led the track championship for a while last year, showed that he will be a force again this time with three hard-fought results on the night.
It was a successful evening for the Stone family from Robertsbridge in the Ministox as well.
Both Michael and Jacqueline were racing at their fourth meeting in five days and while that was impressive, a few others had raced at all five meetings over the Jubilee weekend.
Michael, who had a win up in Norfolk on Tuesday and also went well in the Southern Championship at Arlington on Monday, took the lead from his sister Jacqueline in heat one and went on to win it.
Hopes of a rare trophy for Jacqueline disappeared over the last couple of laps when Murray Jones and Mark Almeida got past.
It was a similar story in the final when she again saw her brother win while she could only make fourth but she did at least have the consolation of holding on to third and a trophy place, in heat two, which her brother also won to round off his best ever night in the formula.
The Rookie Bangers struggled with the conditions more than the other formulas with their cause not being helped by a deluge in the middle of their second heat.
There was lots of slipping and sliding around but it all added to the entertainment, particularly in the final when Craig Holt spun himself out of the lead as Steve 'Cecil' Anscombe took over.
A driver of his calibre probably should have won from that point but he had a lot of trouble with the back marker as in normal conditions he probably would have spun him out and carried on to the flag, but he approached it rather gingerly, they tangled and moments later both were in the fence.
Anscombe did rescue himself from his predicament to get going again but by then it was too late as two others had gone past while he was struggling to free himself and they went on to take the top two places.
