Senegal did just enough to qualify for the last 16 today after an amazing 3-3 draw with Uruguay.
The African new boys stormed into a three goal lead and looked to be qualifying for the second round with ease after two goals from Papa Bouba Diop and a Khalilou Fadiga penalty.
But Senegal were forced to withstand a withering second half comeback as Uruguay clawed their way back into the game.
Uruguay brought on Morales and Manchester United's Diego Forlan at half-time and within 20 seconds of the restart, Morales pulled a goal back.
Forlan, who failed to score for United last season, scored with a terrific volley on 69 minutes and the scores were level after Morales won a penalty in the 88th minute and Recoba duly converted.
The South Americans needed to win to stay in the tournament and spurned a glorious opportunity to do so when Morales, missed a sitter in stoppage time.
Senegal, playing in the World Cup for the first time, held firm and will now play the winners of England's group.
