Thank you to Councillor Mike Middleton for letting me know where I could get hold of Brighton and Hove City Council's elusive survey forms (Letters, June 10). I did cast my vote before today's deadline and encouraged my neighbours to do likewise.
However, in the light of Coun Middleton's recent comments, are the opinions of those he feels will object to his hare-brained scheme for the King Alfred centre ever to be taken into consideration? His assumption that "Having already done some public consultation, we already feel that people overlooking the site, particularly those whose views might be obscured, are unlikely to support the scheme" is inaccurate.
My flat overlooks the King Alfred but, as a regular user of the centre, I am only too happy for it to be refurbished. However, in the light of the previous abortive attempt, I am concerned, once again, the effects that such an over-the-top development will have on the immediate environment would seem to have been completely ignored.
Unless the council spends more time on the consultation process, its plans are doomed to failure.
