Among the modifications the council has asked for are:
Revising the scale, layout and landscaping of the transport interchange to minimise the effect on the Sussex Downs area of outstanding natural beauty and the new South Downs national park.
Details of floodlighting.
Protection of existing trees on the site.
Maximum of three music concerts a year.
Maximum of 46 outdoor events a year.
Restrictions of timings of events.
Limits on the level and use of PA systems.
Guaranteed access for a nominated archeological group.
Adequate park and ride facilities.
The Secretary of State has also directed a new link road between Stanmer Park Road and the University of Sussex.
